Easy Breakfast Casserole
How to make the easiest breakfast casserole ever!
One of the traditions we started a long time ago when the girls were small was having a huge breakfast Christmas morning and then just kind of grazing on small bites all day long. It was then I started thinking about something I could put together before bed on Christmas Eve so I could just pop it in the oven while we see what Santa had left.
This recipe was born! With huge fluffy canned biscuits as the crust, savory sausage, eggs and milk and lots of gooey cheese, this became a family favorite not just for Christmas morning!
~ Ingredients ~
1 cup milk
1 pound ground sausage, browned and drained
3 cups mozzarella cheese
salt and pepper to taste
1, 8 count can of Grands Biscuits, each biscuit halved
~ Method ~
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray. Separate each biscuit in half lengthwise and create a base with them in the baking dish. Sprinkle cooked sausage on top.
Add eggs to milk and lightly beat together. Pour over sausage and biscuits taking care to cover all of the edges.Top with ALL of that glorious cheese. Bake at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Until cheese is melty and brown and biscuits have caused the whole thing to rise. Allow to rest 5-10 minutes, cut and enjoy!
Y’all, this is so easy and just absolutely divine! If you want to make it even more sinful, drizzle it with a little maple syrup! I love it just as is, but Big D and Rae love it with that little sweet added.
